The past couple weeks have been pretty rough as we have battled the chicken pox. Yep. My worst fear (at least my most recent worst fear) came true and our poor buddy had what his pediatrician called "the worst case I've seen in a baby this young." Well that's just the kind of thing you want to hear! Praise the Lord our boy is pulling through and getting better. He's still itching some but all of his pox (he had about 100 or more!) are scabbed over and falling off. He is so brave and luckily we don't have to worry about him catching it again! Whew.
Here's Josh's 6 month stats!
Weight: 15 + lbs (I forgot how many ounces)
Height: I think around 27 inches...looooong and skinny like his daddy!
The past few well check visits he's been in the 50th percentile for weight and head, and 90th for height!
New Skills: Rolling both directions quicker than quick, starting to hold his own bottle, can sit unsupported for 20-30 seconds (would much rather stand), has 2 bottom teeth, responds to his name when we call, plays during bathtime and splashes himself, giggling more and belly laughing, starting to scoot and gets on his knees but can't figure out where his arms are supposed to go! He will also rake toys towards him when on his belly and will rolls/scoot to get to a toy he wants. He's also started growling and it's his favorite sound. He used to squeal and babble...now he just growls. We find it rather hilarious. (Video below) We also just graduated to size 2 diapers...the tabs overlap!
Favorite Activities: Rolling and exploring, scooting around, reading books before bed, being swung and thrown in the air, playing with his blocks and ball popper, playing peekaboo and when mommy and daddy make silly noises.
Struggling With: Separation anxiety (he cries when he can't see me and rolls around until he does) and sleeping (we messed up our schedule when we had the pox invasion). He also gets mad and frustrated when he's on his belly and can't get to something he wants. Crawling will solve all of that, he just has to figure out how to do it!
We are planning on introducing solids in a couple weeks (which I know he's going to LOVE) and are looking forward to being able to have outings and walks again once the weather warms up! We are also visiting Florida again in 2 weeks and I'm so excited to catch up with friends and family we didn't get to see over Christmas!
Here's some pictures of our growing, happy and slightly poxy boy!
